Belon in France included. Incredibly fresh, and they do a great job of cleaning the outsides- no sand or seaweed. We picked them up on site, but saw how they were packaging for shipping and would feel comfortable ordering for delivery in the future. Cannot recommend enough!

Fresh oysters that are so much better than what I can find near me I was a little unhappy with the Fedx delivery..according to the fedx tracking website my fresh oysters were put on the truck at 6:45 am they were not delivered until after 8 pm..thats a long day on a truck. The packaging hekd up and the oysters were fine. I will be ordering again next year

The only difficulty is that FED EX has a bad habit of driving them around all day and delivering them at the end of their route...despite to labeling. Body: Many, many years ago, I lived in the Willapa Bay area, and have vivid memory of oysters being one of my favorite treats at the time. Wanting something really special for our Thanksgiving feast, I searched online and was thrilled to see the web-site for Willapa-Oysters.com. When I phoned to get more information on how they smoke the oysters, I was told that they use Alderwood. They actually go out and harvest the oysters out of the pristine waters, per order. That way the customer gets the oysters as fresh as possible. I ordered 4 - 6oz. tubs of smoked oysters. I received them when promised, and hurriedly opened the beautifully packed ice-chest that they were shipped in and received them nice and cold. Had to taste them immediately, and I have to tell you, they were beyond my expectation! The smoked oysters were on average size 1 1/2" long, thick, tender, moist and meaty. The smoky flavor was delicate but flavorful, and not oversmoked at all. You could still taste the seafood oyster flavor. Our guests loved them as appetizers, AND my turkey stuffing recipe called for coarsely chopped smoked oysters as well. Delicious! I will definitely place another order of smoked oysters for Christmas. In fact, Willapa-Oysters.com is the only place I'll buy from in the future.

The oysters were very good. Obviously shipping fresh seafood is difficult & I understand why the high shipping cost.
My husband believes that there is little shipping cost differentiation between 5 and 10 dozen. If that is truly the case, I wish I had known that as I might have ordered 10 dozen, rather than just 5 dozen as I thought the shipping cost was quite expensive.
(Although I understand why). Having said that, I would order from Willapa-oysters again and I would definately recommend them.

I later needed to increase my order because of more guests coming.
That was handled very nicely and the increase was made, unlike another merchant where I did not receive the increased quantities and had to scurry for a substitute at the last minute.
I ordered the salmon chowder. I and all of my guests loved it.
The oysters and clams were good and they were all in excellent condition. There were none that were bad.
The dungeness crabs were big and full of sweet meat.

I was telling my sister how wonderful the crab is and she reminded me that she has not had Dungeness Crab for 25 years except in a can (yuck). I contacted Willapa-oysters and the service was wonderful. My sister told me the crab was so fresh that it reminded her of when she used to go out crabbing with our Aunt and would cook the crab on the beach and eat it around a campfire. The customer service was above and beyound they called my sister to see if she had received the delivery she was not home to receive it. Willapa gave her the number of the FedEx location and she called and went and picked it up. Willapa followed up to make sure she was able to get the package. It was the best shopping experience I have had in many years - old fashion customer service. The crab arrived to my sister two weeks ago and she is still talking about how fresh the crab was.

Their oysters are simply the best, period. Their attentions and customer care should be an example for most of the businesses operating in the US today.

The only downturn of this, is that I really have a hard time when it comes to order oysters at a restaurant or buy them in a market.

When it turned out I couldnt get delivery on the day I wanted, they suggested an alternative date and even made sure that I could get what I ordered that day despite my not having responded by the deadline. They also followed up the order to my email and cellphone to make sure that everything worked out. This is exceptional service. Ill order from them again. The lower rating for shipping options doesnt apply to willapa-oysters.com but to Fedex and UPS which dont pick up 7 days a week. The oysters were also excellent, as fresh and tasty as Ive ever had aside from when Ive harvested them myself.

Body: My review will sound almost as if it was written by the owner itself, but willapa-oysters really deserve it. After having tried 3 times their products I can only say THEY ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST. I think I am an highly reliable reviewer for this product, since I spend a lot of time and money testing japenese restaurants and buying fresh fish and seafood all around the country. The oysters from willapa-oysters are SIMPLY DELICIOUS. Excellent texture, aroma, and of course freshness since they will be alive (and almost kicking) when you ll open the box. The quality is constant since as I said before I already ordered 3 times (during the last 3 weeks) and no surprises. Well yes, there was one surprise: After sharing with John the customer service responsible (and owner) my preferences about the specific kind of oysters from each category they offer, he managed to send me exactly what I requested, and that is a proof that they know a lot about oysters otherwise they would need an x-ray machine in order to be so precise harvesting the specific variations I requested. Packaging: Perfect!!! oysters are 100% safe against temperature variations, bumps and shaky rides. Shipping. Extremely reliable, no surprises but... a litle pricey. The only area of opportunity would be a better princing for the shipping. This is not a flaw or something wrong, it is worth it to pay what they charge because their oysters are just a delight for the senses. But by reviewing the pricing for shipping it would be an opportunity to have more repited purchases from actual customers and more opportunities for enroling new customers. I always had the option of selecting a 2 day shipping but you know what... I like to receive my oysters friday, knowing that they were harvested the day before, and I still can save some for saturday or sunday with no hesitation. With a 2 day shipping I would not feel as confortable doing this since I live in texas and yes it is hot as hell down here. No hesitation, go ahead you will enjoy delicious oysters.

But I took the opportunity to be the first to place a commercial order and send some oysters to my dad since they are harvested from pristine Pacific waters. Everything arrived on time and in good shape. The web site and order process works fine and is very intuitive. (Many online ordering processes are cute and difficult to navigate, but not his one.) Shipping is expensive, but that is what it costs these days. It is no different than ordering from Omaha Steaks.
